Will Hartop:
Cotswolds
wedding photographer

Congratulations guys! You have chosen a beautiful part of the country to get married. Now you’re looking for awesome photography to go with your Cotswolds wedding.

I have the pleasure of calling the beautiful Cotswolds town of Stroud my home. I love photographing weddings in this idyllic corner of England. The quality of light, the rolling hills, and the iconic golden stone make for a mega combo in wedding photography. Not to mention the venues — Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds are home to some of the best wedding venues in the UK.

Don’t hesitate to fill out that Contact Form to see if I’m available for your wedding in the Cotswolds.

Having shot over 100 weddings in the Cotswolds in my 5 years as a wedding photographer means I’ve been lucky to visit a few of these gorgeous venues. Whether that’s the effortlessly stylish Cripps Barn, the amazing Caswell House, or Merriscourt. If you’d like to see some of my recent documentary-style wedding day photos, you can check some natural moments from Georgina and Rob’s beautiful wedding at Old Gore Barn.

Back in 2019, my wife and I chose the wonderful Kingscote Barn for our wedding. It’s a firm favourite of mine and about a mile from my front door! I love going back there to shoot weddings for other couples, as it takes me right back to our day.

If you’re planning on getting married in this beautiful part of the world and my style of wedding photography resonates with you, then I’d love to hear about your plans for the big day.

How I approach your Cotswolds Wedding

My aim on your wedding day is simple: create beautiful wedding galleries that tell the story of your day in a timeless cinematic style. I want you to feel something when you look back at your wedding photos, like a time travel portal immersing you back in that moment.

I approach weddings the way I wanted my day photographed—no awkward poses or off-hours away from your party. My vision for photographing weddings is to make you and your guests feel relaxed around the camera. This way, we document the most authentic versions of yourselves and reflect on what happened on the day—whilst looking so good you can’t decide which ones to hang on your wall!

My job is to blend in and go unnoticed, letting the magic unfold before the camera. This approach could be boxed up as documentary or reportage, but that doesn’t tell the whole story. What I promise for your wedding photography is a visual story of your day that you will cherish forever.

I’m not one to sit on the sidelines waiting for something to happen. I’m always moving, following the action, and being at the moment rather than sitting across the room, zooming in. This approach means I capture those moments often not seen, the raw, intimate moments that mean the most.

A little about me

Thank you for making it this far. I promise there are lots of lovely pictures to look at, but first, I just wanted to introduce myself.

I’m Will, a wedding photographer from the Cotswolds. Having been in this game for over 5 years now, it is never lost on me how fortunate I am to witness one of the happiest moments of your lives and it means a huge amount to be the one to keep that memory immortal.

I’m incredibly fortunate to live in the heart of the Cotswolds in a little village called Horsley. This means I’m really well connected for photographing weddings all over the South West, but most of the time, I don’t need to travel too far, as I have many beautiful venues on my doorstep.

I’m a documentary photographer at heart, and I take a lot of my inspiration from sports and news photographers who, like wedding photographers, need to make a scene tell a story whilst being pleasing to the eye – my house is littered with Neil Leifer prints, I love the energy in his images, check him out if you haven’t seen his images before. I’m also a big environmental portrait fan; people are doing their thing in their happy places, and the likes of Finn Beales and Tom Bunning are big inspirations for me.

These influences guide my decisions on your wedding day. I’m always moving, following the action, making sure I’m in the moment when it happens. If my way of photographing weddings resonates with you, then I’d love to hear from you. Head over to my contact form to tell me all about your day!
